2023 LE FAUVE By Charteris ROSÉ
Grenache for spice and perfume, Mourvèdre for structure and wild brambly notes with Shiraz filling the palate with plushness and fruit depth.
An aromatic explosion of Pink Rose petal, musk stick and red peppercorns sit across watermelon and white cranberry. Subtle hints of wild thyme and bay leaf add a detailed layer of perfume like bouquet. There is sunset and wild herbs on the wind in the nose.
The entry is all florals and spice from the Grenache, with the rose petal and Turkish delight carrying through. The Grenache gives way mid palate to a crescendo of Mourvèdre driven savouriness and tannin texture finding every corner of the palate, before dropping onto a cushion of Shiraz plushness on the mid to finish. An exercise in interwoven tannin and spicy flavour taking your senses on a organoleptic journey of spiciness, dryness and silkiness all at once.
Drink over the next 2 years.
You can happily drink this wine on its own but the complexity of fruit and texture almost commands food with intensity, Classic Bouillabaisse or just the Mussels with a tomato Broth would do the trick.
